About Cryoskin

Is it safe?

The device is very safe. In terms of programming and electronics, it is managed by a computerized Windows system. The cooling system is controlled by an electronic temperature sensor located in the processing head of the device and the temperature is controlled in real time by the machine and figures displayed on the screen. The Cryoskin Toning was launched 5 years ago and is used throughout France. It is currently the most successful non-invasive slimming treatment available in France.

How does it work?

The treatments lasts for 28 minutes and is done manually through a massage technique. The session begins with 2 minutes of heat and then a decrease in temperature to -8 degrees for the duration of the session. The purpose of the treatment is to lower the temperature of the fat cells enough to cause what is known as the phenomenon of apoptosis. This phenomenon is triggered when the temperature of the fat tissue is between 17 and 12 ° and causes these cells to die. These cells are then naturally passed through the body through the lymphatic system and urine.

What are the benefits?

Clinical studies have shown that this technology naturally destroys fat cells, but as with most techniques, the results vary from one individual to another. The expected effect is usually rapid: part of the fat cells are destroyed during the session while the others will be eliminated within 2 to 3 weeks. It has also been proven to help with micro circulation and a significant increase in collagen due to the thermal shock that is caused by the hot and cold.

How does it feel?

The treatment is painless, with some clients describing it as rather pleasant. This is due to the massage technique and the session beginning with skin warming descending into the gradual decrease of temperature.

Who should not have the treatment?

Anyone with the conditions below should not do this treatment:

  • Severe Raynaud’s syndrome
  • People who suffer from very poor circulation
  • Pregnant woman
  • Severe diabetes
  • Cancer
How often can I have the treatment?

Slimming treatments can be performed once every 15 days and lifting treatments can be performed every 7 days. There is a physiological reason for this: when apoptosis occurs and some fat cells die, waste is formed. This will be eliminated by natural routes (blood, lymphatic system, and then urine). Metabolism must therefore be allowed to evacuate this waste without overloading the system.

Can I work out before/after?

Absolutely there are no side effects to this treatment that will stop you working out.

What do I need to bring?

You do not need to bring anything, we provide you with everything you need.

What is the difference between Cryoskin and other Cryo treatments?

There are other manual cryotherapy machines. But tests and experience have shown that no other machine is currently capable of such dramatic results as the Cryoskin. These results are due to the fact that the device does not only produce cold but heat also. The exchange within these temperatures has a dramatic effect on the body’s tissues causing them to drop to 12 ° when fat tissues reach this temperature they die and are passed through the lymphatic system.

Why can I only have the slimming treatment every 2 weeks?

The natural destruction of fat cells will cause cell waste. This waste is passed through the body naturally, first through the blood then the lymphatic system and then urine and this process on average takes 2 weeks.

What happens if I come back before the 2 weeks?

The results may be compromised by the natural cycle of waste disposal and thus increase the risk of clogging the pathways. This does not represent a significant risk but would compromise the results.

Why can I only have 2 areas done at one time?

Again, to not overload the body’s pathways. There is also strong internal cooling of the tissues and the treating of more zones at the same time could cause in extreme cases hypothermia and fatigue.

What if I want to do my face, tummy, arms and legs?

We would not advise to do all of these areas in one session. For best results and safety in general it is advisable to practice treatment on the upper OR lower body during one session. This could be:

  • Face and arms in one session
  • Stomach and legs in another session
Do legs count as one area or two?

The session is divided between each leg so the legs count as one area.

Can I have a longer session on one area?

We may extend the time when we are working with someone who has a much larger body mass. Pre-programmed treatments were performed on average body surfaces so are effective across a variety of body types.

What can happens if too long is spent on one area?

The treatment area could become a little irritated and local hypothermia could cause some transient (not serious) pain.

Can I have Cryoskin if I'm pregnant?

Like any external treatment, this is not advisable on areas such as the tummy, breasts or even the hips. The safest option is to abstain from treatments altogether.

Are there any side-effects?

There are generally no side effects apart from the amount you urinate to increase slightly over the 3 days following the treatment along with the appearance of your urine in color.

In minimal cases there were the following side effects:

In some cases there were localized redness that disappeared after a few hours and in rare cases there was local pain that did not exceed 2 to 3 hours. There may also be some itching without consequences and often this is due to the reaction of certain cosmetic products used by clients; to avoid the chances of this do not use anything before coming in for treatment.

There were some experiences of delayed onset muscle soreness from treatments on the stomach due to unintentionally engaging the abdominals, again disappearing later that same evening.

Who should have Cryoskin?

Anyone who is looking to lose weight or has stubborn areas of fat they are looking to remove.

Why do you use the gel?

The gel has been specially designed to retain all its qualities of gliding and protection from -30 ° up to + 60 °.

Can I do anything to enhance the treatment?

By implementing a healthy lifestyle and a good diet.

How long do the results last?

Depending on the individual and depending also on their lifestyle and diet, the results last several months or several years. It is advisable to practice 2 or 3 sessions 6 months after the end of treatment to maintain results.

How quickly will I see results?

The first results are generally visible from the first session and often very encouraging. However, it should be noted that the best results appear from 15 days to 3 weeks after the start of treatment and extend for several months after the end of treatment.

About Cryotherapy

How does full-body cryotherapy work?

Exposing the body to extremely low temperatures within the cryotherapy chamber alerts your brain to pump more blood to your internal organs which causes vasoconstriction – in layman’s terms this means your blood vessels constrict causing your blood pressure to increase. As you exit the chamber, vasodilation happens which reverses the process by decreasing your blood pressure and increasing blood flow plus oxygen to the body. This effect to the body caused by the sub-zero temperatures aids in clearing toxins, decreasing muscle soreness and increasing endorphins.

What is a Cryo Facial?

By exposing the face to cryogenically cooled air, you will produce more collagen reducing the signs of ageing.

What is a Cryo Cellulite treatment?

By exposing areas of the body that contain cellulite to cryogenically cooled air we can help rebuild skin cells and reduce signs of cellulite.

Is it dangerous?

No. To ensure your safety, we employ the most advanced cryotherapy technology available and  a trained technician will accompany you in-room for the duration of your session. Additionally,  your head remains above the top of the chamber at all times via an adjustable lift that allows for varying heights – this measure keeps you from breathing in the cooling nitrogen. Lastly, we have oxygen monitors in-room that constantly gauge the oxygen levels and are set to turn off the machine automatically if there’s a drop indicated.

When should I not use full-body cryotherapy?

If any of the following apply or if you’re unsure for any reason, we recommend consulting your doctor:

  • Severe unmanaged hypertension
  • Pregnant
  • Heart attack within the past 6 months
  • Decompensating diseases (edema) of the cardiovascular and respiratory system
  • Congestive heart failure
  • COPD
  • Chronic liver disease
  • Unstable Angina Pectoris
  • Pacemaker
  • Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Disease Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
  • Known circulatory dysfunction
  • Acute febrile respiratory (Flu like respiratory conditions)
  • Acute kidney and urinary tract diseases
  • Severe Anemia Cold Allergenic Phenomenon (known allergy to cold contactants)
  • Heavy consumerist diseases (abnormal bleeding)
  • Seizure disorders
  • Bacterial and viral infections of the skin
  • Wound healing disorders
How does it feel?

This treatment is completely dry which allows your body to withstand the extremely low temperatures. For some people, a slight pins & needles sensation may occur during the final 20-30 seconds but disappears immediately upon exiting the session.

What should I wear?

Clients are required to wear underwear or a bathing suit without metal during the session. Plus, we provide you with speciality socks, gloves and shoes to be worn in-treatment. Additionally, all jewellery must be removed before the session.

What should I eat before and after?

It’s not required, but we recommend being well-hydrated/nourished pre-session, as this can increase tolerance to cold. Post-session we recommend hydrating however eating is completely individual and has no negative or positive effect either way in regard to the benefits of the treatment.

Can I work out before/after?

Yes, you can do both. If you choose to workout before your treatment, we ask that you allow enough time for your core body temperature to fully cool down before your session. In addition, you must be completely dry (no sweat). We strongly recommend working out after your cryotherapy session so you can reap the full benefits of feeling more energized and flexible.

Should I have localized cryotherapy or full-body cryotherapy?

This is largely dependent on your reasons for doing cryotherapy. For instance, if you’re interested in cryotherapy to alleviate specific pain points then we’d recommend local cryotherapy treatments with a focus on the concerned area. Alternatively, if you’re interested in relieving all over muscle soreness plus increasing your energy levels then we’d recommend the full-body treatment.

How often should I do cryotherapy?

While a single session will instantly change your mood, we recommend doing 3-4 treatments a week to fully reap the benefits of cryotherapy and maximize your potential.

When will I see results or improvements?

Immediately you’ll notice the positive effects of increased endorphins and adrenaline, leaving you feeling focused and recharged. If you’re looking to see more physical changes, results are seen after about two weeks of regular treatments.

Can I do it twice in one day?

We recommend once per day as the effects can last over 24 hours.

What do I need to bring with me?

We’ll provide you with everything, just be sure to bring/wear underwear or a bathing suit without metal for your treatment.

How early do I need to arrive for my appointment?

For your first session we ask that you come 5 minutes prior to your scheduled time in order to complete a quick waiver. For all following sessions, simply arrive on time!

Can I do cryotherapy if I'm claustrophobic?

Yes. Our cryotherapy chambers are open at the top and your head is fully above the machine. Plus, the door doesn’t lock as it’s held closed by magnets allowing the ability to exit easily. In addition, you’ll have your choice of music for the duration of your session.

Why is liquid nitrogen better than electric cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy chambers which are controlled by electricity vs liquid nitrogen can only reach -110°C whereas those using liquid nitrogen can reach -140°C. In order to fully garner the maximum benefits of cryotherapy, it’s been reported that temperatures must be between -120° to -140°C.
